Just a quick one, what position hole is the kickdown cable connected to on the leaver on the Injector pump. I know from playing with my 300tdi auto that moving it out gives harsher changes, ( Holds longer in gear) mine is the closest to the pump, number one. I will stand corrected but over the last months haven't you tweaked injector pump and adjusted things. Perhaps it all needs to go back to standard and start again. Good luck.

As mentioned, more than likely the sticking governor is the cause, but in my experience poor adjustment of the kickdown cable can also give the same symptoms.
Or is that just not right?

Certainly the kickdown cable can have a bearing on shift points, but generally whether they are cold or warmed up it shouldn't alter . My money is on the governor

govenor for sure - I replaced my auto a while back after totally buggering the one I had. Unfortunately I didn't clean the cooler line properly and my brand new box did exactly the same thing after about 2 days. stoopid stoopid stoopid me, all I can say is after about 12 months of putting up with it and replacing the fluid several times and filters etc it seems to be starting to get less and less. What I do is warm up the engine first before I drive it and that helps heaps.
