    Seat repairs

I recently purchased a second hand drivers seat for my D1 because cosmetically my old drivers seat was looking a bit worn. Well the spring in the base of the second seat broke today. So now I have one seat with a really good base and one with a really good back.
Is it possible to remove the back off one seat and fit it to the base of the other and if so how?

I had to do this as my Disco seat broke after the first day of driving, so I bought a seat from the wreckers, but the top half was ripped.

You need to unbolt the seat from the car, then have to unclip all the little metal clips that hold the seat fabric down, which should reveal some more bolts so that you can disconnect the top half from the bottom half.

So I can't go into much detail, but it can be done and works great.

Are you sure its the springs in the base that went. I know that there is a rubberised canvas-type support stretched under the foam seat base that eventually gives way dropping the foam seat base by an inch or two (depending on the size of the a**e sitting on it I suppose)

If your old seat has this intact the transfering of that over should be simple:

    1. Remove seat (5 bolts)
    2. Swap over webbing support (pliers to unhook edges)
    3. Fit to new seat.
    4. Refit seat
    5. Bobs your uncle

May save a bit of the work.......

    Cheers
    Jason
