oh to hit 110km/h.. I only run upto 95-97 tops. Bigger tyres (265/75/16) and roof top tent seem to slow things down a bit.. But nothing that diff gears and some KAM half shafts wont fix...

As for economy.. the car has paid for itself in fuel alone compared to a V8. The Tdi is a good thing. Run forever if they are looked after. Just a chugga

Oh and btw.. I paid $5,300 for a 97 Tdi

Better than 10l/100km in a 2tonne truck though makes up for the noise and lack of power
If yours is that noising then i'm guessing you need the tappets adjusted as mine purrs on the freeway as well.

10L/100km is about average I get in city driving. Usually around 7.5-8L/100 out on the open road. Years ago a couple of mates and I did a trip to the Flinders and Innamincka, the cars were Disco Tdi, Defender 110 Tdi and Prado Td, guess which had the best economy. thats right Disco avaeraged out about 8.5 for the whole trip. Prado was 9.2 and the defender was 9.8.
Towing a pop top caravan from Darwin to Mataranka I usually get about 10.5-11L/100 if I sit on 100km/h which is slow but you get the benifit of economy. No pont doing 130km/h when the consumption is around 12L/100km.

    cheers
