How long does your Tdi take to warm up?

My auto Tdi takes around 10Klms on suburban roads, then another 10Klms on the freeway before the gauge gets up to about a needle width below halfway. Could the thermostat be jammed open? If so where is it?

    Sounds about right to me.
They do take a looong time to get warm, especially in winter.

I suppose I'm just used to Jap diesels, warm in a few minutes. I look forward to your report, Brettsky64, thanks.

No problem there they take the best part of a month to warm up, and even warm, they barely reach 1/2 way.

    Cheers

Until i replaced the thermostat in mine the highest the temp gauge had ever got was a tad below a 1/4
Now it eventually gets to halfway inbetween 1/4 and 1/2.

I'd be happy with how yours is working

I just watched mine and it takes 5-7km's to get to its resting point which is a bees dick under half way.
Takes about 5 min depending on traffic, I always take it very easy in the morning or when its cold. Poor old thing must be getting tired of getting hot and cold alll the time.

Yeah... I would have to say that they do not warm up all that quickly.. There is 11.5L of coolant in there after all

Anyways, about 10 mins I would say.. I try to let it warm up itself a bit before I take it on the road and stuff just in case.
