    Disco I Service

    Hi there,

    First time poster here.

    I have a disco 1 3.9 on gas and am about to do 150k service.

    I have had a look around and the cheapest best oil seems to be the Penrite HPF10 Gas 10W 50.

    Has anybody used this stuff?

    Also what oil filters and spark plugs do people use? Standard or aftermarket High flow?

    Is the 3.9 sump plug blocked by the exhaust like the 3.5?

    Been running our 3.9 V8 on HPR Gas 10 since we bought it at 195,000. Now 275,000 and it's running just fine. I'm currently running it in 3 motorcycles too.

    Penrite makes a great oil, have run it in everything I have had for ages. My DR-Z 400 loved it, smoothed the gear changes. All my vehicles run on it & are doing fine.

    NGK for me in the plugs as well.
    Standard paper air filter for me.

    Bosch part number WR7DC+ is my favourite plug, equivalent to NGK BPR6ES, is fine too. I swear by Penrite but have been running the 15W60 gas oil for years. Standard filter elements are OK too, just change then regularly.
