Hi All, from Apollo Bay, Vic. Help on tyres anyone?

    Hi All,

Have purchased a 5dr '94 Disco 1 3.9ltr V8 Auto, completly stock. Absolutley love it! Slowly building it up.
So far have added TJM Winch Bullbar, 12000lb Tigerz11 winch, Cut and Flared wheel arches, AirTech snorkel, Navra Driving Lights, Dual Battery with Red Arc smart isolator, 2" Susspension lift using Dobinson coils and Boss adjustable shocks (absolute treat! nice and firm on road then just twist the switch and nice soft flex off road!!! and 2nd Hand Goodyear MT (Tho rear tyres need replacing as they are nearly 'bald' terrain) on sunny 15x7 rims. All done by self so learning alot along the way! More fun to. Had Auto trans fully rebuilt as it was making some horrible noises and burning fluid badly and finally lost Drive, all ok now!
On the list still to come is a Rear bar and Wheel Carrier, Sill Protection, Underbelly Protection (Diff Gaurds, Steering Gaurds) and possibly ARB air lockers.
Also have a question regarding tyre size, my understanding that to keep it legal i need an engineer to sign off on the 31" tyres? To go to 32", as i have a set of 15x8 rims (with 32x12.5 BFG AT tho bald, cut and leaky), will they fit properly, as i can't see any fouling? But not sure what 32" will do to the gearing? Would an engineer scutinise it more than the 31" or not really? Would some one be able to recomend an Engineer in the area?
Just realised how much I'm rambling on and will leave it at that for now, any help or advice on the tyre sizes would be appreciated.
    Cheers Chris

The larger tyres will most likely foul on the rear of the rear wheel arches. You will need to trim them to suit.

I thought going above the standard 235/70/16s required cutting guards, as said above. Is that what you meant you had done when you said above about having cut the arches?

To fit 31" or 32" tyres with a 2" lift you will require what people on here call a camel cut (from the Camel trophy car). Any bigger tyres and you will need to cut the whole guards and fit flares. Do a search on camel cut and you will find the info you require. I did the preedure and some Pic's recently for someone else.
    Cheers, David.
