    Angry fuel gauge faulty

    just brought myself a 95 discovery petrol manual. was led to believe by the previous owner there was no fuel in the tank, however when i went to the petrol station could only get 30 litres in it. the fuel gauge is stuck on empty!!. has anyone any advice on where to start looking. need this fixed urgent!! thanks

    Possibilities to check:
    sender unit in the tank (part of fuel pump);
    wire connections and continuity at pump and gauge;
    battery earths.

    Split float, full of petrol. It happened to me but mine was with a brand new after-market (not genuine parts) fuel pump.

    The float was foam and absorbed petrol.
