Ive read the manuel as to how to enguage it but i can't seem to find the correct possition for the low range gear stick to slide to the left.

I have been at this for an hour so what am i missing, Ive heard from some ppl that i need to get under the truck to enguage it. Is this correct??

This is realy starting to annoy me.

if it hasnt been used in ages the linkages and the unit itself will be stiff and wont throw over, perserverance with the relaseing agents and some muscle will usually see it right.

The lever can move across in any of the 3 positions (High, Neutral, Low) so it doesn't matter where it starts from.

Make sure the main box is in neutral, otherwise you won't budge the little lever.

Try moving the car a metre forwards or backwards, and then put it into neutral and try to move the little lever again.

The little lever should move left (locked) and right (unlocked) whether in high range (back) or low range (forwards), or in neutral (middle).
So the little lever can move in a square shaped figure 8; left or right in all three positions.

He's asking about the diff lock, not engaging low range so it doesn't matter what gear the transmission is in. Diff lock can be selected while driving along (in a straight line).

sounds more like it hasnt been used in a while, so lubricate the linkages and perservere with some pressure on the lever and it shoud come loose.

when it comes loose, keep moving it in and out of lock periodically and it will be fine.

good luck, at least you are going to use diff lock

I always forget about this, I'm used to always putting the difflock on and off at standstill, I must try it at speed one day!

After many nasty words and masses of lubrication i finally got the the diff lock on and off.

And now that it works i will be giving it a hell of a workout this weekend

    Thankyou all for your help.

I think its a good idea to take the truck off road at least once a fortnight to keep that difflock linkage loosened up....at least thats what i tell the wife
