As you can see in the pics, the block is a bit of a mess from the leak. Leaking under pressure from this fitting is not good. Just as a point of interest there was a tapered o ring that was initially on the oil thermostat, both my hayes manual and other sources show it just as a plain o ring, which is what I have replaced it with. Both of the o rings on the cooler lines needed replacing as well as these were both shagged. The fitting was a little bit of a pain to get off the block and required the filter to be removed so that I could leaver off the oil filter housing. The real pain with doing this job is definately removing the old gasket material off of the block. This is a real PITA. But, with a little bit of sweat tears and a few swear words, you get there in the end. Just got to pop down to Malz tomorrow to get a new ryco filter and bob's your uncle

ITS STILL LEAKING!!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN IT!!!!! Okay, so now that I have that out of the way it would appear that the O rings that I used to seal up the oil cooler lines are not the correct ones and are leaking. So I went back down to West Coast Rover on Albany Hwy and picked up some of the proper ones! Just going to let the motor cool down a little bit and pull the hoses out again and then we shall see how we go. Thinking about sealing up the thread with locktite but I don't think that there would be any point to this as I am pretty sure that the seal is created between the oring and the oil filter housing not the thread on the cooler line.

Gasket Stripper is good, just make sure the spray nozzle is not pointed at your face, instead of the block, PITA to get at though, Regards Frank.

Okay, so after a lot of stuffing around yesterday afternoon (thanks siska) it would appear that we have fixed the problem. Some ding bat forgot to check the tention on the nuts that hold the oil cooler lines on to the oil filter bracket, resulting in the oil leaks. Will check them again when the wife gets home this afternoon. Now on to the next thing(s). New battery and then check the brake pads.. Dammit, will this ever end? Then I have to replace the radiator, new water pump, timing belt..... Anyone want to buy a disco?
