    Alarm goes off on corrugations

I have seen a thread on this before but can't find it now.

When Driving down corrigated roads the alarm goes off (Only the lights flashing) and keeps going untill you turn key off then back on. I remember someone talking about a ball in a little green box on passengers side. Anyone have a quick fix? I not worried about losing the alarm compleatley but would still like the central locking. Could I turf the little ball if I can find It?

There is an inertia switch on the firewall. Its a matter of pressing it to re-set.
D2 is on the LHS I expect the D1 is too as the steering/brakes are in the way on the right.

This is an inertia switch and is designed so that if you have an accident the hazards are automatically activated to warn others. Mine does this when I hit a decent pothole on a road. Just stop and turn the ignition off then back on to reset it.

Don't know of any other effects on the vehicle when this switch is triggered. Maybe someone else here has more info.

Cable tie around the bottom and back to the top pulled tight works well..

That might be so, but a Real PITA when driving along a corrugated track and toyo owners are in eyesight.

I posted about this about 2 years ago when it first happened to me.

My D1 needs to hit a fairly extreme pot hole at about 100 kph or so for it to activate this alarm. Has only happened a couple of times. It does not seem to occur at low speeds when rock hopping etc.

I am just grateful that the SRS air bags do not go "off" as easily. I am always worried that the SRS will engage when I am doing some serious off roading

Don't post the same thing in multiple areas. Threads merged.

Hi Thommo, you will probably find your doors unlock as well.

The module in behind the passenger side kick panel. You can try wrapping the module in some sponge rubber and then securing it back in place.

This reduced the problem a fair bit on my D1, but I eventually modified the sensor ( I don’t recommend trying that )
