Klappers. I had a good laugh when I read your post. I think Durashock's answer was word for word what you guessed. Are you psychic or something?
I haven't rung Suspension Stuff. Was hoping that maybe the shocks would wear in or something. Hasn't happened though.
Boofdtl, Will be interested to hear how you get on. I hope you have better luck than me. Maybe after you have mentioned this to Shane I might get a follow up call

Hi 68WICKSY, I did speak to Shane at Suspension Stuff the other day and he was under the impression you were happy with the outcome, since he hadn't heard from you. Well, I won't bother doing the same as you did. Shane suggested I send in my shockers and he'll have them sent away to be "re valved". The next shipment will apparently have the new valving already done. I guess he hasn't spoken to Durashock either, I'll just start looking at some other options as I had the yellow shockers first. They weren't as harsh, but were still too firm for me and that's why I changed to the silver type. He told me that when other people complained the yellow shockers were too firm, they would change over to the silver and be much happier. This however dosn't seem to be the case for Disco owners, only Patrol and Land Cruisers
Might have a closer look at the Terrafirma range.
Thanks for your reply.

Zozza - FYI, i'm running Dobinson springs in mine. C51-018 in the front (mines a diesel), and C51-022 in the rear. Do you have the same? These were what Shane recommended when I told him my Disco was a daily driver that doesn't carry much weight and I wanted a "comfort ride"
If you do find a shock that gives you the comfortable ride you are after, please`let me know.
Cheers
Geoff

At a guess I would say that you would be much happier with the Terrafirma gear then the Suspension stuff at this point. I only say this because by the sounds of things, these shocks are valved up for the "heavier" rigs then a D1. You could always find the specs for the shock, take it off and have it tested. I am sure someone like Ultimate would be able to test the shocks for you.

Geoff, My D1 is a V8 and the springs are 2" Dobinsons as well, but they are C51-014 and 015. Not too sure what that means though. I also told him I wasn't doing anything extreme and there weren't going to be any bull bars, winches etc, for quite a while. I'll let you know how things go when the bank will let me upgrade.
Cheers

Have placed the order to day with shane did ask him about the shocks and he said the sliver ones are good for the heavy d1s so thats what i am getting at the end of the day if its no good i wil drop him a line and let him know ..
If we dont let them know they cant fix the problem.
Wil let you know how i go when i get the kit next week will post up a before and after pics...

Are the springs linear or progressive, meaning do they compress all the way at the same rate or are they initially soft and then get harder?
Sounds like you might be happier with something that's initially softer and then hardens up.

Hi discomick,
Both mine and zozza's springs are linear rate springs. Dobinsons front springs only come in linear and their only variable lifted rear springs are extra heavy duty. I think Klappers is right about the Terrafirma gear. They have a much greater range of springs to allow you to tailor your ride more to your individual preferences. Oh well. Lesson learned!
Cheers
Geoff
