2 inches will not need anything except the rear brake hose to the diff will need the bracket bent to allow full drop of the axle,
and longer shock absorbers
All a quick question, If I fit 2 inch longer springs to get a bit of extra height do i need to change anything (brake hoses ect) or will they fit ok. I should explain i'm not into serious 4wd every weekend but i have just bought a camping trailer and want a bit more height without the big doillars.![]()
original springs, 1996. I have the standard right hand droop, just thought a 2 inch will allow for any extra weight, and give a slight lift as i'm heading up to the tip next year. Open to any advice
a set of poly air bags is always a good addition to help with the extra load carrying. when you are finished towing just let the pressure out and the old girl will ride just on her springs again. can get them for lifted 2 inch vehicles too.
Good advice. There was a thread a little while ago on getting air bags from the US at Truck Spring, which worked out a hell of a lot cheaper than getting them here.

Ring Dobinson's they seem to do most springs and damper set ups. Used them for my disco and saved a fortune and have since changed set up to suit a camper trailer and never been happier.
There is a difference between towing around a trailer and going to the tip, that is quite an arduous journey and your vehicle needs to be in tip top condition.
Focusing on suspension, plus 2in springs should be matched ideally with plus 2 in shocks of a very good quality, I can highly recommend Polyair type airbags, drove my RRC to the centre with everything and the kitchen sink in the back, and it drove beautifully, when it was unloaded, let the air out to 5psi and back to RR ride again.
You will need to check your brake lines, fitting longer ones is surprisingly easy and gives you a reason to bleed your brakes too.
Just make sure the rest of the vehicle is up to it and make sure you have good tyres, take 2 spares if you can, even if one is just the tyre off the rim.
PS I assume the tip is Cape York and not your local civic amenity![]()
