Na mate you'll be fine. There's less than half an inch in overall diameter difference. Just as long as you don't run the spare and leave it on for ages, just use it to get by while you get the flat fixed.

I have 235 70 r16 tyres on the disco
would it hurt to run a 225 75 r16 as a spare?

I personally would not, on a permanant 4wd, all tyres should be the same size.
When i went to Cooma 08, i had brand new 30X9.5/15s on the front and very used 31s on the rear. I replaced the rear one's when I got back.
Didn't do any damage and i've done tens of thousands of k's since. I may have been lucky...hmm.
Can't see the problem with the 225's
ok boys and girls,
he asked if he could use it as a spare.
a spare is normally used to get about until the 'not spare' tyre is repaired.
so get off his case.
no it will not harm the vehicle if it is only temporary.
no the centre diff lock will not care, it's not locked.
no the diff, front or rear, will not care.
if you want to worry about it, have a think about how many left or right turns you do every day, does this wear the diffs out?
and does this worry you if your other car is a commodore?
it's got a diff too.
I beg your pardon, the OP asked for an opinion and got it, no-one is "on his case" as you put it and your condescending attitude is not welcome, with me anyway.
I like many come onto this forum to learn from others, and to impart knowledge I have gained from Land Rover people who know a lot more than I, I don't need, nor does anyone else to be cut down by you, or indeed anyone else for offering their opinion.
Indeed if you want to alienate people from offering advice on this forum, keep it up.
My apologies to the OP for this deviation from the subject.
I had my Disco at its yearly wheel alignment centre this morning and thought before i answered, I get a professional opinion.
The answer is a definate No, it will not worry it at all, not even if you leave it like that for ever. Well, nothing is forever but you know what I mean.
If they were 285/75's than Yes, its not recommended but for limp home stuff, no issue.
Thats what diffs do, make up the difference so to speak.
Oh and what's with the Cranky pants post?![]()
