Timing belt misalignment on 300 TDIs
I have a 300 TDI with good 450 000 k on it and it is time to change the timing belt.
So here I am scratching my head at all the different options the WWW gives me...
VIN number is MA 094...... so it is in the "first batch" which are supposed to have the "belt misalignment issue" ------- first question: what exactly does that mean and how can I tell whether it has been updated (don't have the full history of the beast)??
According to the following webpage:
300 Tdi problems
I am supposed to change
timing belt -------- sure
"tensioned idler" ---------- is this supposed to say idler pulley and tensioner pulley?
crankshaft gear ------ if the "updated style" with the flanges on the side is already fitted, can I reuse it (unless it obviously looks like crap) or should I replace it anyways, and should I replace any of the other gears at the same time?
front cover ------ what is the difference and how can I tell weather I already have an updated one or can I possibly manipulate the old one?
FIE pump bracket -------- ?
side cover gaskets ------ ?
dowels and fasteners ------- ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
... and while I'm at it, should I go the extra step and replace the rear cover gasket and camshaft + crankshaft oil seals?
Cheers !!

At 450000km, I would not be worried about the alignment issue. It would have been fixed long ago.
If the belt shows no sign of bad edge wear, then just replace what you normally would.
