thermals are going switches in dash seem to be working , feuse are good

but when i tested the plug itself on the compressor with a tester light and mulys <on all settings i got nadda

is there a generall problem with this part of the electrical, do i have to chuck it to the auto elecys?

    Hello Matthew

Now as much as you hate hearing that you gonna have to spend some more hard won cash on this ride ....

Unfortunately, i'm not gonna be describing something that can be fixed for free

    Your A/C has no gas

The system has a gas pressure switch and when the pressure is low ... it shuts the compressor off, so as to save it from damage, ect

6 outa 10 ... I'ld say that the compressor seal is failing from being idle when you did not use it during the winter ... and the gas has escaped ....

The proper fix is to get the seals replaced
The most popular fix is to regass it (and add some fluorescent dye) and see how it goes

3 outa 10 are for leaky hoses
    1 outa 10 for O ring seals

You can test to see if the compressor is working OK by bridging a wire from the positive side of the battery to the compressor clutch ... Look for the single red wire on the side of the compressor to hook into

    Cheers

My air con is on all year round. In the winter it keeps the windscreen clear. In the summer it keeps my eyes clear, no sweat.

.... I was working the Red wire (+ power) from memory

The black and white wire combo is most probably + & -

Don't quote me .. & don't touch it in case I'm wrong ... Let the A/C repairer sort it out

    Cheers

unplug the compressor, if you dont get continuity (set the meter up so it goes beep when you touch the 2 probes together) across the aircon compressor clutch wiring then its likely just a vibration failure of the wiring from the plug to the compressor thats a cheap easy fix if you can or know someone who can solder properly.

now set the meter to vdc (put it across the battery till it gives you a 12vish reading) and probe the wires coming out of the harness to the plug that connects to the aircon compressor, with everything on you should get 12V there if you dont its either a blown fuse, broken wire OR the system has degassed. to check the former check all the fuses and then short the wires leading to the pressure switch (usually near the reciver drier) if shorting the wires to the pressure switch produces no change on the voltage on the meter then its most likely a degassed system.
