    bad noise/bang from my disco

ok got a 94 v8 disco and get a really bad banging noise /clunk coming from the front diff. was a suspect broken axle or diff but i pulled axles and diff out to find the diff is all good and same with the axles the only small issue i found was the drive flange was slightly worn and same with the sline end of the cv but it doesnt seem like it has spun on the drive flange, i could be wrong but just asking what else it could be. ok i tell you a bit of what happens. mainly happens in reverse or on full lock going forward. when driving its like it winds up then lets go and goes bang and its def from the front as u can see the whole diff move. could it be the cv/drive flange under load or could it possibly be the transfer case?
sorry if this confuses anyone as im new to this so just winging it lol

    thanks shannon

Hi Shannon, I'm a bit new to this as well, but first things first, is your centre diff lock engaged or disengaged when the noise occurs? The diff lock should be disengaged while driving on all hard surfaces.
    cheers

    Transmission windup

Are you sure that the centre diff isnt locked. Sounds like the transmission is winding up due to CDL being engaged.

the light isn't on the dash and its just in high range. so unless the centre diff lock is engaged ? how do i check to tell if its still engaged even tho its not selected ? could something be wrong with the centre diff lock.

Jack up one back wheel. If you can turn it freely your centre diff lock is not engaged.
