Bit of an update, went for a 20km drive and felt fine and the temperature stayed in the same spot about the centre. Lifted the bonnet and the overflow tank was leaking around the cap. Loosened the cap and it boiled in the tank. After it settled down we filled it with water again and let it idle without the cap and there were no bubbles. Dad will take it to a radiator shop to have it pressure tested this week.
