    think it really depends on what you do....I jubilee clipped mine in and snapped them
    Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    Ya gotta let them twist. If you have the clips done up so tight that the spring cannot rotate , then you will snap them as you have shortened them a lot. That is why spacers are a bad idea if the springs bind before bump, as the spring is shortened by the spring bind and will snap from fatigue.
