And where the levers come out when all bolted up.

I have tried to use as many parts as possible from the 110/Defender design to simplify things. It is possible to unbolt the Disco shift mechanism and swap over to the 110 mechanism and vice versa.

There was a slight modification to the original design when I fitted it. The arm that transfers the side shift motion was trimmed a little and then offset lower to clear the tunnel.

Also in the pic the gearlever attachment is splined. This is to suit the 110/Defender set up. A different attachment is being made which will allow the original Disco gear lever to bolt to it.

Looking good, i'd never thought of doing this. Would have been a possibility when I was faced with my blown engine. Ahh well, the new Tdi is going strong.

looking forward to seeing how the conversion progresses, keep the pics coming.

Some progress with a little motivation from Vern.....

    Engine and gearbox in.

This later design clears the transmission tunnel a lot better than the initial design With the engine sitting about at the right height, the following picture shows (in the green circle) the only area that contacts the tunnel. Three options come to mind.... either a little trimming, a few hits with a big hammer in the right location or a slight body lift (an inch would do it easy).
