hi guys, if i installed 50mm taller than standard springs, will i need to upgrade my shockers? i've recently purchased a goldstream camper, and the rear end of the disco is sagging a tad when towing,
note: im trying to do this to a budget but without saftey shortcuts

I belive if you do that your articulation will be affected beacause the shocks will be trying to over extend maybe if you did that and lowerd your shock mount 50mm on the chassis end im just throwing it out there they have cheap suspension on suspension stuff im looking at only $770 four springs and shocks 50mm lift i think there has been a thred on them and they reckon they were good worth a look cheers
ok thanks, lets say if i get the rear springs and rear shocks, do you know if they sell them as a package??
also, would it be better off if i just went the polyair route? i dont really know too much about polyairs
thanks
I havent had anything to do with polyairs if you go to the website they have every thing on there listed for discoverys cheers suspensionstuff.com
I have had Polyairs on both my RRCs and really like them for towing. I have accidentally Yumped on dirt roads towing the camper and the landing was perfect with no hard bottom and no rebound.
I also have 2 inch springs and standard length Bilsteins and a working Hydromat,. I also have a 140L Long range tank.
Just accept that if you fit the Polyairs you lose articulation in Mountain country unless you let them down completely which is not recommended as they can pinch in the springs. However I did that several times with no problems.
Of course you lose articulation with stiffer higher springs anyway.

If your trying to do a lift as cheap as you can just get some 2inch longer springs and put them on very easy job. The shop will sell you the same size shocks for a 2inch lift as you,ve already got. I meet a great guy that pretty much gave me some springs also some polyair bags (thanks John) the air bags are great for towing. at 10 psi Thay keep the car stable and level when towing. I run around 3-5 psi in them when normal driving and off road.
If you want the cheapest way to firm up the rear suspension stuff the springs full of tennis balls (I am not kidding!).
If your shockers are in good condition you can get away with them with a 2" lift. I put my new 2" shocks up against my originals and they were very close. If the shocks are still the originals that came with the car, I would think they are getting pretty tied though and you would benifit with new ones when you can afford it.
Cheers, David.
My Land Rover has made me a better Mechanic........
D2 TD5 Manual, CDL, Detroit Rear, Truetac Front, 2" OME lift, 32" MT Tyres, ARB Bull Bar, Winch, TJM Roof Rack, Driving Lights, Dual Batteries, ARB Side Steps, Rear Draws, Uhf.
I found an ironman 2" lift with nitro shocks for 742 on ebay. And they let me pick comfort or performance (weight rating) springs for no extra.
