    Power Steering fluid leak

Pool of oil under the Discovery 300tdi while not unusual for these vehicles was a concern for me. Looking underneath it was either the power steering or auto cooler pipes. Checked the steering reservoir and it was empty so at least it wasn't the auto pipes. Under the car with spanners and removed the high pressure pipe from the pump to steering box and found the clamp that holds the pipes to the cross member had worn the pipe away causing to split and leak. Off to the pipe specialist who fitted a coupling where the split was and charged me a reasonable NZ$38 for this. The beauty of having a coupling is when I came to replace the pipe I seperated the coupling and was able to easily feed the pipe back into place and then rejoin it. After refiting, adding fluid and checking for leaks I went around all pipe clamps, all where loose and fitted rubber sheet around the pipes to lock them in place.

Might pay to have a look under yours

Mine has already done a very similiar thing. One of the clamps had fallen off and the two metal pipes had rubbed together until one started to weap fluid. It was quite tricky to find!
