Anyone have a Crank Pulley Locking Tool - 300TDI

    Hello

Does any kind soul in the Brisbane area have a Crank Pulley Locking tool I can borrow?

I have a 300TDI auto. Used the starter to get the bolt undone but now I need to do it up again.

    Thanks

    Ben

Be careful you dont snap the pin that goes into the flywheel, you really need a tool that bolts to the front damper which allows a socket to be fitted through it to the crank bolt, or find a way to jam the starter ring against the housing, Regards Frank.

    Cheers for the advice mate.

Not planning to crank it on the flywheel locking pin. That puppy would shear straight off with the torque you need to put through it.

The tool i'm after is the tool you described that fits the the crank pulley via the 4 bolts.

Be a damn sight easier with a manual gearbox!

Sorry I misread your post, even with a manual I have seen the car driven forward with a torque wrench on the crank bolt, make sure you diconnect the fuel on/off solenoid or the battery. Grab a mate and get them to hold the flywheel if you cant get the proper spanner, Regards Frank.

i have a tool that was used to hold the front diff flange while you tried to rattle off the nut on ather makes of cars.
