    Thermostat Gasket

I picked up a genuine LR thermostat gasket today but cannot remember which way I was told to fit it. Does the raised side face towards the thermostat or towards the housing cover? is some form of sealant also required? it's for a 98 3.9 V8

    Thanks

I usually fit them with the raised centre ridge towards the actual housing, although it has more to do with personal choice

I use a small amount of Wurth 250 sealant on both sides, again persoan choice as it makes the gasket and thermostat stay there while you are fiddling about trying to start the bolts...

I love silicon i always use sensor safe silicon on all surfaces that need a good seal for that extra security. As for which way the gasket sits cant remember only done mine once.
