Can't help with the expensive bit, but any half decent auto eletrician will be able to supply the bulb for $2, (same one as a Commadore) I did mine a couple of months ago.
Guys,
How many have had the unfortunate problem of a cracked block,
Is the 300 Tdi block prone to cracking, my Disco has a nursed 160 K on the clock only.
I have been informed by my spanner that the constant leak of oil form around / under the matching of the gear box (auto) and motor might be stemming from a crack in the block the (behind the flywheel) when the motor is warm and under normal / extended load (normal driving). The diagnostic comment came from about 5 days of gear box in / out. All area gaskets, seals where replaced etc etc
Anyone use dye penetrate kits to track down cracks????
Also anyone know where I can get a globe for the clock, are they the festoon type or is the plastic bit it’s mounted in part of the deal as well??
Any comments greatly appreciated

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
aarrgh i paid $11 for that bulb
and yep the bulb and plastic is 1 piece, i found out the hard way when trying to disassemble it![]()
its not very bright diplay on the clock so is there another LCD type of clock that can go in there. what type is the early D1 and is it suitable or even the RRC analoge would do![]()
Guys thanks for the info, globe sorted out now to work on the oil leaks
Regards
Noel
When you say "sorted", do you mean you have one or you know what to do about it?
If the latter, did you consider replacing the globe with an LED?
The Disco clock may be different, but I replaced all my Defender dash lights, including the clock with LEDs. The main reason I did it was that the original bulbs just weren't bright enough.
They also come in a range of colours. My clock is now a very attractive shade of blue.![]()
