    Bit of help?

    Hey guys,

I've finally signed up after lurking on the forum for a while
I just got a '97 300TDI auto with 260,000 k's on it. So I'm wondering about all of the usual stuff- Is there anything I should be looking out for? Where's the best place to get it serviced. Money's a bit of a factor, I'm a poor student
I've got a couple of things to get too- brake disk, rotoflex and rear wiper motor, where should I get them from?

    Cheers!

    Hi Pjay
    Welcome to AULRO !

As for the tdi sorry but i cant help much other than the usual oil/filters mine is petrol. Parts I would usually got either:

    rovacraft, beachborough
    discovery autos, wangara
    british4wdparts Carlisle
or the markets section here onAULRO
    maybe ebay?

personally for the rotors i would go for slotted DBA's and bendix pads the ones with the ceramic content, cant rememebr the range name.
The wiper motor i would probably just not bother but there is a landy wreckers in perth, for the life of me i cant remember what is called though, someone will.

For service? TBH I have yet to find one decent mechanic in Perth
Your best bet is to buy a "Rave" workshop manual on CD from this site and do the easy maintenance your self, oil changes etc it will save you heaps and you know you get a decent job doing.

Landys are infections mate, im just about to buy my second one, enjoy.

Keep an eye on engine temps., maybe fit a low water alarm (available thru someone on the Forum), have your radiator checked for flow and have it rodded, service the cooling system regularly, most problems arise from overheating, don't rely on paid services to check cooling system check it yourself or at a radiator specialist, Regards Frank.

Cheers for the info lads, most informative! I might head down to the wreckers and have a browse I think I found it - West Coast Rover 1704 Albany Hwy, Kenwick.
    (from here: Perth Landrover wreckers)
I've got the day off tomorrow so I'll pop the hood and check it all out.
I realised they were infections once I saw the previous owners new hse in the garage :P

    Thanks again!
