    TDI Auto not shifting from 1st

    The cable attached to the throttle cam has snapped. I'm a bit of a novice so but i think its the kickdown cable? pease correct me if i'm wrong.

    Is this a tricky one to replace or a simple fix?

    check the cable for movement with the throttle pedal, if its loose when you're at the idle position then its hampering the box, you can still make it change up by thrashing the biscuts out of it but its not a pleasant way to drive if this is the case.

    The cable is slack. Its bunched up next to the throttle cam as if its snapped further down.

    After it happened the throttle felt a lot lighter than it usually does. I assume this is from having no friction from this cable.

    Is this just a case of swapping out the cable or do you think its something more significant? Is the cable a simple fix?

    It's probably not snapped. It is stuck on full kickdown. It is probably jammed on some broken strands. Try to feed the cable back in its hole with some oil and some long nose pliers.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you. That fixed it Bee_utey! Lots of WD and some needle pliers and were good.

    I really hope i never end up in a pub with all the people from this forum because I'll be buying a lot of beers!!!
