Do you tow with that setup? I have exactly the same tyre size and standard ratios and find that when the camper's on the back (about 1.3 ton), progress is considerably hampered, especially uphill .

    Cheers

i have 33inch tyres, 3-4 inch suspension lift and run a defender transfer case which brings high range back exactly the same and low range is still low enough. AND i still run the rubber coupling, has been 12 months now since the lift and is cracked but still going (was cracked prior to lifting anyway).

I was told that they will not leave you stranded and for the cost of them, i carry a spare anyway.

I run a v8 with supercharger and find that even with that power the change helped with towing a heavy caravan.

    Hope this helps

This is the same set up that I have and I believe that better gearing in needed. I will be rebuilding my T/C later this year so will change high range to defender ratios. Add some weight and I think that the lowered revs and stock motor struggle to handle it. As I said before, you would be wise to change the ratios when going to 33's with a TDi, I would definately do it for 32's (As I have said before)
