Blows lots of blacksmoke on start and under full load.

First i replaced the coolant temp sensor, and replaced the thermostat to an 82 degree just to make sure it was not running in cold mode.

Next i shouted it a new airflow meter, i thought it was running better but next trip it was blowing black again

    Any suggestions will be appriecated.

Check in the Good Oil section for the procedures to check and adjust the TPS and MAF. I would say that these need to be adjusted th aprox .32 and 1.3 volts as a starting point. Bob

ok to date i have replaced
    spark plugs
    8 mm top gun leads
    new dizzy cap and rotor
    82 degree thermastat
    engine temp sensor
    mas air flow meter
and just thrown in a set of bosch 4 spray injectors

still getting 17-18 liters per 100km

a new issue that has come to surface is the car idles at 1500 rpm once you pull up for about 15- 30 seconds before it returns to idle

starting to get the willies here any more advise???

can some people let me know their fuel consumption they get out of there 3.5 v8's on petrol.

The IAC valve at the back of the plenum will cause your symptoms, check that the 3 allen bolts are tight, then take it off and clean the plunger and the seat, which is in the plenum body, Regards Frank.

17-18 L/ 100KM sounds like normal to good fuel consumption.

Have you checked the vacuum advance unit on the distributor?
