    Leaky fuel pump 300Tdi.

    Hi,
I have a leak in the fuel pump - 300Tdi.
Can it be fixed or do I have to fork out for a new one?

    Where is it leaking from?
Some throttle stem leaks can be fixed with a seal and done insitu.

Generally, by taking the pump to a dieso specialist - leaks can be fixed.

If it's the lift pump, it generally leaks due to a crack.

Do you have a curly hose from the filter to the pump? If it's the original hose, maybe not.
LR introduced a curly hose to absorb vibration so the pump fitting didn't crack. Either fit a LR one or have a longer hose made up if this proves to be the cause of the leak.

    Hi,
Its the mechanical fuel pump on the driver's side of the engine. There is a tiny spray of fuel coming from underneath the pump - next to the lever.

my pump died (twice). it was seeping around the metal seam.
looked difficult to repair so on went a new one.

the 2nd time something went bung with the membrane.. and it was letting air into the fuel stream.

$75 I think it cost me, ~$45 for a 2nd handy, or I found some lastnight for around $50 shipped from UK!.

    go go ebay!

    Fuel lift pump.

As mentioned the hose from the fuel filter to the lift pump is too short and under tension, eventually it will cause a small split/crack.

You can dodgy fix with metal putty until you get a replacement pump and fuel line, that lasted many months for me
