Good to hear Frank, but I have seen ones with no labels, average casting finish and supposedly sold as OE quality that are definately of serious substandard quality, sold for around the $350 mark.

What i want to know is the one thats in the vehicle died and i'm looking to replace it with any altertenative. I heard that there are issues with noise out of the alternators just wondering if i can get a BOSCH to fit then would it be fine with the electrics etc??

If you can make up a bracket and get the pulley onto it so that you get to keep everything else the same, go for it. Sounds like your cash poor time rich so go for it.

What would be the actual draw that the vehicle would use i'm assuming that it wouldn't use anywhere near the full 100amps. Does anyone know what i can get away with i'm just wanting to get something in there so that i can get things happening and when the $$$'s permit i will put the proper alternantor in there.

Chris, a 300Tdi using heater blower and demister etc this time of year really could use 65A at least. The Defender has the 65A rating Alternator, strangely enough they are just as expensive so we fit the Disco 100A unit to Defenders as an upgrade.

Use the search function as there are forum members who have fitted a bosch 120amp generic fit alt in place of the magnetti, its only a matter of a couple of small brackets and changing over the pulley.
