Not exactly sure if the petrol setup is the same as the diesel one, but with the diesel there is a rubber pipe that links the fuel filler and the tank.

I replaced mine a while back, and although it wasn't leaking, I found the old rubber was quite deteriorated with surface cracking. It would have eventually leaked I think.

I also found the hose clamps holding it on had become loose over time.

If it is this rubber pipe or the clamps, it would only leak when really full, so this would be an easy place to start looking.

Yeah its a fairly common problem.

If you look under the wheel arch there is a big fat rubber hose and a thinner long hose. Chances are it's the big fat one. The kit to replace them comes with both, but the thin long one is a real pain to fit as it connects to the top of the fuel tank about 3/8 the way along.

Just far enough out of reach, the workshop manual recommends to drop the tank to replace the longer hose...

As Rez said, who sells the kit as mine is old and cracked as well. Not a good idea leaking Diesel as mine is bad enough on fuel economy as it is......
Just arrived: 2012 D4 3.0 HSE, the journey begins again ;-).
Gone: 98 Disco 300tdi Auto, and some extras

I've got mine in the past from the Landrover dealer, I'm assuming any parts resellers will have them.

I can't remember the price from the dealer but it wasn't heart attack material. Especially when you have a V8 and the fuel is leaking out of both ends...
