Thread: 300Tdi Engine oil cooler pipes

Geoff, get some viton o rings for the ends if they are not on the newies. Replace the bottom one first, and get something to collect the drainage, because the cooler in the radiator will have oil in it. Don't overtighten the replacements, as the o rings may crush and the lines will leak at the unions.

It's just a bit messy and fiddly, that's all.

I'm thinking of bypassing the radiator cooler on my 300TDi and running an RX7 engine oil cooler instead located behind the grille somewhere.
any comments?

Just this, while sitting in traffic you are not getting any cooling, run new cooler in line with radiator cooler, Regards Frank.

Seconded on the o-rings. You can't get them just anywhere either as they are a funny size, need to come from somewhere that sells Rover parts.

When you take the old ones out, make sure that you check that the old o-rings come out too, carefully use a small blunt screwdriver if they are in there. They don't look like much but they can stop the new lines going in properly.
