    Rear Diff Centralising Pin

    Greetings all!
Anyone an idea how to remove the centralising pin on the rear diff flange? Without Land Rover's special tool, of course, as I don't own any such. I tried with an improvised device (adequately sized nut, bolt, washers as seen on another forum) without avail. Now I'm running out of curses and patience and am looking for valuable advice.
Reason for al the bother is a leaking seal that needs replacement. Yep, I have checked and cleaned the breather already.
    Ta for all input!
    Cheers

I had to heat mine up quite a bit before it would come out easily, then used some old sockets and the new flange with a M8 long bolt and wound it in as per the same instructions you would of found on other forums and searching.

If you have another flange you could attack it with a grinder....here's what someone did to get his off, page 14.

Thanks for your advice and the link! OMG, that chap wasn't nice to his truck! Of course, if I'll have to resort to the "last option" I'll have to go down the same road. But then I need another flange first.
How did you heat up yours? Blow torch? Welder? I'm a bit anxious to inflict bigger damage.

i screwed in a longish bolt with a washer on the head end, then got my biggest shifter and closed it on the shaft of the bolt, slid it back & forth like a slide hammer and it popped out after a few goes, no heat involved

I just used a torch off my 2kg propane bottle, just went over it for about 2mins then put the bits on and it screwed off straight away. There was residue of some sort of locktite in there, hence I couldn't get it off at first. Probably only take me 5mins next time

Yes use of heat is recommended with these as the loctite will then 'release'. I have a bolt welded to a fitting that I screw on the end of a slide hammer, takes seconds with a little heat applied first. You will not need to get it very hot, but take time as the heat must get through the material and heat up the pin aswell.

Then like mine, the bolt snaps off while your trying to wind it in......

Think mines going to be vice grips and MAP gas....
