A HUGE and heartfelt thankyou must go out to some members of this forum.
Over the last few days a bucketload (probably understating it) of work has been done to my car thanks to the incredible genorosity of members of this forum.
To Dave (Blknight.aus), his dad Bob, JustinC, and everyone who turned up to help out...............from my children and I a very emotional THANK YOU to you all.
Dave and Bob, you are princes amongst men. In the end they gave up their entire weekend to get this old car back on the road, and I was underway around 8pm last night. And to their lovely respective wives, Connie & Shirley, ladies.........you are incredible, not phased by the entire prolonged process and making me feel so very welcome. Thank you!
And to JustinC, without your genorisity with the parts this could never have happened, thank you kind sir.
I would love to list what they did, but I'm not really sure of it all. It did however include replacing the head gaskets, all 4 brake rotors, suspension bushes, and general servicing. (oh yeah, fuel injector seals too.........plus heaps of other stuff I'm sure).
I had a nervous drive home hoping it was all going to be okay.......and of course It was fine! In fact for about the last 20k or so I was beginning to enjoy it..............the car just feels so incredibly different..........It was like getting into someone else car and trying to get used to driving it.
So, as in adequate as the words feel, they still do need to be said over and over......
THANK YOU!!!!!!
(and now Dave can feel free to regale you all with stories of the worst car he has ever worked on.................even found a cockroach in the engine!!)

certainly horrible but i bought a Morris Nomad a couple of years ago now (i know i'm a sick puppy(and now Dave can feel free to regale you all with stories of the worst car he has ever worked on.................even found a cockroach in the engine!!)) it had been parked undercover for 22 years after the original owner died. on inspection before sale i saw a mummified rat at the back of the engine, after the sale when de-greasing a pretty oily sump/gearbox area and bash plate 2 more mummified rats emerged
oh and heaps of oily gunge
best of luck with the disco DMO71 they are a great vehicle
you're welcome.
It could've been worse....
