    Sounds like gearbox but
Transfer box selector hasn't kicked out? have you tried selecting low range etc? Drive shafts ok?

    From the Rave CD.....
SYMPTOM 3 - No drive from rest with ’D’ selected
    Select ’1’ œ Vehicle drives
FAULT - No 2 freewheel œ No drive
Carry out main line pressure check
    œ Normal pressure FAULT - Clutch A
œ No pressure FAULT - Blocked filter or pump failure
œ Low pressure FAULT - Restricted filter or sticking primary regulator
SYMPTOM 4 - Slip in all forward gears
Carry out main line pressure check œ No pressure
FAULT - Blocked filter or pump failure œ Low pressure
FAULT - Restricted filter or sticking primary
    regulator œ Normal pressure
    FAULT - Clutch ’A’

Check out the Torque Convertor Plate/Flywheel, they have been known to come apart, get back to the forum with info on what was/is wrong, your feedback can help others here, Rgards frank.

    check the shafts..

release the park brake open the CDL, select drive hold the foot brake on hard and have someone check the propshafts.

IF one of them is spinning then youve done a diff or axle on the sie thats spinning

IF neither shaft is spinning then you may have done the Tcase, check again in high and low range.

if that doesnt help you may have done the output shaft. on the back of the tcase there is a round access plate where the pto can be mounted onto the back of the tcase, remove that and check again, if the shaft and gear in there, if the gear is spinning then its the tcase side of business and you need to drop the tcase off to repair it. IF everything appears normal in there then youve done something in the box or the flex plate.

to prove the flex plate remove the inspection plate from the front of the bell housing/fywheel cover and with neutral selected try to turn the torque convertor housing by hand. If you can do that then its not connected to the crank shaft.

IF you cant then most likely youve done the a clutch in the auto.

ok have checked the prop shafts neither moved with the car running , took off the small plate under the auto box cant move it with my fingers. took off the large plate on the transfer case with the cdl in low range and the car in drive its not turning, i looked in the small inspection plate on the auto and the plate was spinning. i used to get a spinning sound through the t/case when i was driving now theirs no sound ...............so does this all point towards a t/case that needs a rebuild

Foolish question, does "park" still hold the vehicle from rolling away? If "park" still works then it's the auto box that's not driving. If "park" doesn't hold it then the problem is after the box, perhaps the output shaft has broken/lost its splines.

Well then, if park is holding, and the shift lever moves normally (clicks into each gear slot) to disengage park, my next check would be to see if fluid is circulating. Obviously you know the fluid level in the auto box is correct? Then undo a cooler line and run temporary hoses into a container and see if the fluid is being pumped around. Just needs a few seconds of flow to see. I don't know the most common failures of the ZF but if all drive failed at once I would suggest torque converter/pump area, may be not as hard to fix but still means gearbox out.
