Haha forgive me but I don't know what the mod you've done is or why it's a good thing (I'm assuming if it's illegal it must be because it's good)...but dammit I want to know what's going on!
just because people have been doing it for years doesn't make it legal
re -
over 2" lift without engineering
lowered vehicles
huge rims
rodholders on bullbars
spotties above headlights
you might be lucky and get away with it, but if you are involved in a serious accident and your insurance company can find an "out" for not paying due to vehicl illegality then they probly will
All states vary with their rules, I know for instance that lighting rules in NSW are much stricter than Vic and suspension and body mods in Qld are not easy to get around but in general, unless it is proven that the mod had something to do with the accident, most insurance companies don't care too much with just slightly modified vehicles.
I know they don't like huge lifts, huge tyres, huge exhausts etc etc but just a 50mm susp lift, slightly bigger rubber and maybe some offset or wider rims are normally not flagged from my experience and I put all my mods on my insurance more for the reason that the mods are then insured as well as the rest of the vehicle.
Cheers Casper
yep, fair comment,
interesting that in NSW and QLD very strict on lowering and raising, and wheel rim sizes, maybe we should all move to vic.
i guess the same applies to doing 105klm/h in a 100klm/h zone, everyone does it and you might get away with it, but it is breaking the law and if you are the unlucky one to get targeted by a pedantic policeman, well too bad.
each to his own i guess, the rules are there for a reason, some i don't agree with but easier to abide by the rules now than try and argue them after the fact if you are involved in an incident.
guess i am just lazy and getting old.
interesting thing is if you travel interstate, which laws apply ? can you tell me that ?
