Is that just in Qld or is that nationally as I and others have been running flipped Disco rims for years one one landy or another?

If the rules have changed then I may have to rethink putting them back on Casper.

Haha forgive me but I don't know what the mod you've done is or why it's a good thing (I'm assuming if it's illegal it must be because it's good)...but dammit I want to know what's going on!

Are just flipped rims illegal or off set ones??

I was thinking of going to 0 or maybe -5/7mm off set so that they didn't look to obviously modified, but want to keep everything legal.

just because people have been doing it for years doesn't make it legal
    re -
    over 2" lift without engineering
    lowered vehicles
    huge rims
    rodholders on bullbars
    spotties above headlights

you might be lucky and get away with it, but if you are involved in a serious accident and your insurance company can find an "out" for not paying due to vehicl illegality then they probly will

over 2" lift without engineering In Vic the law says 130mm total before engineers cert if the new law comes in that drops to 100mm total
lowered vehicles In Vic is perfectly legal as long as it's done with resetting springs not cutting them or adding lowering blocks
huge rims Should maybe not be but is also legal at least in Vic as long as they do not protrude from the mud guards and allow free movement of the tyre within the guard for the full extent of the suspention travel
rodholders on bullbars A contraversial one but again in Vic they are legal if they can be removed without tools and have no sharp edges on them, they can't just be tube welded to the bullbar anymore
spotties above headlights Again in Vic it's legal as long as it doesn't impede your view of the road. Just from memory, I think you can go 50mm higher than the bonnets highest point only but that may be wrong as I don;t have the most current RWC reference book.

All states vary with their rules, I know for instance that lighting rules in NSW are much stricter than Vic and suspension and body mods in Qld are not easy to get around but in general, unless it is proven that the mod had something to do with the accident, most insurance companies don't care too much with just slightly modified vehicles.

I know they don't like huge lifts, huge tyres, huge exhausts etc etc but just a 50mm susp lift, slightly bigger rubber and maybe some offset or wider rims are normally not flagged from my experience and I put all my mods on my insurance more for the reason that the mods are then insured as well as the rest of the vehicle.

    Cheers Casper

    Why's that Dave?
I'm just about to get a set of Disco rims flipped to put on my 130 and I don't want to waste my dough if it's not Legal.

    yep, fair comment,
interesting that in NSW and QLD very strict on lowering and raising, and wheel rim sizes, maybe we should all move to vic.
i guess the same applies to doing 105klm/h in a 100klm/h zone, everyone does it and you might get away with it, but it is breaking the law and if you are the unlucky one to get targeted by a pedantic policeman, well too bad.
each to his own i guess, the rules are there for a reason, some i don't agree with but easier to abide by the rules now than try and argue them after the fact if you are involved in an incident.
guess i am just lazy and getting old.
interesting thing is if you travel interstate, which laws apply ? can you tell me that ?
