Central console easy window switch fix

    Hi,

I have now had a couple of the electric window switches in the centre console (in front of the glovebox) go faulty on me.

They still work after a fashion but you need to be tarzan to press them hard enough to get them to operate. They appear to be a sealed unit however before finding a replacement set on fleabay I found a simple long lasting solution.

I'm posting it here in case anyone else comes across the same issue. Remove the switch (dead easy pulls apart then slides out). Soak the offending switch in a container with WD40 in it covering the switch. I left it overnight. Refit switch, works like a dream and no hassles. Had it work twice for me and so easy.

    Makes a nice change.

I have a problem with the globes burning out on these switches and have been replacing them with green LED's. The units are not sealed, they can be opened up and the contacts filed/sandpapered clean. A bit like the points on an old distributor. These contacts tend to get dirty after a few years from greasy fingers and dust.
Biggest problem for me is finding a small enough LED to fit the switch and for the switch to still work.

No LED's on my 93 model so I don't have that issue Luke.
