    D2 flares on to D1

Has anyone fitted original D2 flares to a D1.My 94 D1 has a dented guard and I thought the easiest way to cover up the dent is to fit the rubber flares.I am having trouble finding a set of D1 flares as they were not very common and thought it might be easier to get the D2 flares as these are more common but am not sure if they fit properly.
    Cheers

The D2 wheel arches are larger so the flares probably would not fit.

Yep the DII flares are larger but this is the perfect time to do a camel cut and still have the DI looking original to most people. Now the DII fares are stuck on with double backed tape so you will have to get some the same so that they dont fall off and you will have to use a filler piece at the bottom (plastic strip pop riveted to the flare and the guard)

The crease in the door are different so there will be a bit of a gap there.

I have a set of DII's flares and have looked at fitting them several times but not sure whether I want to use them or go with the bigger ones.

    Hi

Check fleabay UK, they have the D1's out all the time. It will be a little more in P&P but since it isn't a heavy object it shouldn't be that bad. I live outside UK and get alot of things from UK, price and shipping is less than buying it localy.

Very often the same here as well Johan, cheaper to get it imported from the UK direct than to go local

Sounds like alot. I just checked for flared wheel arches for my five door D1 and a set of new is £140 + P&P. If the original plastic ones would cover the dent you could get away with £25 + P&P for an complete set.

I priced a set from the UK once, and though the purchase price is good, the postage was really high - as much again as the original cost. Even though they don't weigh much, you are paying for a lot of empty volume which is what the postage is calculated on. Best to get a quote. I have heard of others buying a few sets to share the cost of shipping.

Thanks,I was thinking the post would be quite expensive from the UK.I might check out some US mobs and see if there is any difference.

There is currently an ad on Ebay for a couple of Disco 1 wrecking on the north side of Brisbane. The pictures of one of the cars shows it with factory flares. Here's the link.

They are difficult to get so they may be gone by now.
