Nothing on the inside of the firewall, I don't think anything on the outside, although it is hard to tell because I spilled a pile of fluid there the first time I tried to fill it
Yes, worn clutch could be an issue for age, but investigating the leak first.
Looks like taking the slave out could be the next step to inspect.
Put a catch tray underneath when you remove the slave cylinder.....
When my clutch pedal dropped to the floor years ago I suspected the slave cylinder was at fault and just unbolted it and covered the garage floor in brake fluid.
I put a seal kit in and was back on the road straight away plus I got a new slave cylinder from the LR dealer (car was still under 3 month warranty). Soon after there was a wet patch in the drivers footwell and the master cylinder failed.....
I put a seal kit through the master but noticed that whenever I flushed the clutch fluid it was black. Turns out this is wear in the master cylinder as the steel piston wears away the aluminium body.
Last year fitted the new LR slave cylinder (supplied under warranty) and a master cylinder that had been sleeved in stainless steel. I'm thinking about getting the original slave & master re-sleeved ready for next time....
