There very sensitive to moisture. Snorkel and a good going over of the electrical. Good quality leads help. Don't hit the water to fast as it will start running on 3 cylinders. Use a water bra if going deep to limit the flow of water under the bonnet. I have heard some people run a vacuum hose to the dissy cap to suck out moisture.

I've driven my petrol v8 with water just above the wipers, and through countless very deep bog holes,they are surprisingly water proof, provided you have a water tight air box and snorkel. I recently had trouble with it stalling when crossing any sort of water though so I used heat shrink on any connecting wires I found then grabbed the kettle and poured water over everything electrical till I found the problem. A tiny ping ***** sized hole in one of the wires that runs out of the dizzy. There SHOULD be a gasket under the distributer cap although I've never actually seen one lol. The bra is a good idea for water crossing. Better safe than sorry when crossing rivers. Overall though in my experience they are a pretty hard vehicle to drown.
