Torque Converter
Today's plan was to fit the reconditioned torque converter and drop in the replacement engine(98 model 3.9 V8). So I put some atf in the converter and climbed in the engine bay, clunk twist clunk easy, a few measurements, same all round, looks good. Then I remember RAVE saying something about 50mm so I pull it off to check if it could fit further in. Doesn't look like it, checking the back of the motor confirms it was at the correct depth first time. Jump back in to refit it but no go. Took the better part of an hour to before it eventually slipped easily into place again
Luckily the engine fitted easily and all bolted up in much less time. I had to return the engine hoist to a mate by lunch time so just scrapped in.
Why are the simple things sometimes so difficult?

Did you change it for a larger TC or one of the same? I'm thinking of adding some *ompf* in the engine but don't know if I should be limited to the current TC or if one alittle larger can fit.

It is not a larger unit but the old one cut open and reconditioned, then welded back together. Supposed to be better than new? Will soon find out I suppose.
