a 3/8th ratchet set and allen key drive set makes life really easy
Thanks Dave I would, if it could be started - but the old starter motor is dead. The car hasn't left my garage in 5 days!!

And thanks all for your tips - especially about the heat shield bolt in the engine mount, that would have stumped me!

Hopefully I'll get it done today..........fingers crossed!

(p.s. the landrover mechanic did suggest that if I needed to try and get somewhere I should hit the starter motor with a hammer while I had someone turn the key - but alas it was only me here so I didn't get to try out that method )

With difficulty! It's a case of threading the ratchet extension through all the obstacles until you manage to get it in the allen bolt head.

It's kind of like trying to get your front door key in the lock whilst drunk and blindfolded!

You're a bit of a way from me, otherwise I'd come and help.

Anyone here close enough to help a damsel in a Disco in distress?

They were going to charge way more than I had at any of the mechanics round here.

But I've got $100 thank you for anyone that could assist.

If you can get hold of the 2 exhaust gaskets you need, remove the drop pipe. This will give you more room to get access to the top bolt. Still a pain in the butt to get to though. Need really small hands.
