    V8 won't start/idle

Hi all, I'm having a problem with my D1V8, it wont start/idle
The v8 displayed no symptoms while driving. came to a stop and turned off the car, came back 15 mins later and she wouldn't crank. I put that down to a hot starter, (has happened before), cooled it down like i normally would, with some fresh water then she started turning over normally. Now it will splutter for 5-10 sec then..... die. If i try starting straight away it wont splutter but if I turn it the ignition off and then try again, it primes and splutters again. It's seems to be getting fuel, I checked the valve on the fuel rail and it sprays a heap of fuel, it has a new pump and filter and the coil and ignition are also only 6mths old, (scorcher)
Gave it a few hours to "rest" still the same issue.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Well, for starters .....
Change the starter motor .... It's Shagged

Water ... Not a real good idea on a hot motor ....

Did you spray it over the Dizzy? ... Cap off and dry it (CRC)
In the mean time .... constant winding and no start = flooding .... which = wet plugs >>>> Take them all out and clean them in metho & a toothbrush

While your at it >>> Wind the motor over with the plugs out >>> Foot flat out on the accelerator pedal >>> to clear and vent some of the petrol flooding in the combustion area

Also, wet (flood) the plugs enough ... Then you can shag them = replace with new

Water over a starter motor can also give an internal short that robs power from the main electrics >>> Replace the starter

The rest is sorta ABC mechanical checks to fire the motor up .....

    Cheers
    Mike

Ohhhh yea ... and while we are at it ...

    ...... Next time .....

    >>> Procedure for a starter motor playing up for the VERY FIRST time <<<

Hit the starter with a hammer or a block of wood ....... Not water ...
Immediately fix or replace it ..... Not later down the track

As Dave (and for his love of Auto's) will tell you ... You can't push start an Auto
