97 V8 Disco radiator going out in sympathy?

Got a similar quote from Natrad today re. my '97 V8 disco today, $968 all fitted, did I want it done today? Ha ha. No!
Good to know there are other options. Knew there would be someone on AULRO that could offer an another opinion - Thanks guys!

I got my alloy fenix radiator from ebay for my 93 v8 RRC. I've had it in for a good few months now. The build quality looks great. It cools the motor perfectly and the block temp on the highway stays around 79 deg c. I haven't seen it hit 90 deg c yet and that is driving through sand on a real hot 35+ deg day. It came with steel fittings for the oil cooler pipes however the thread for the transmission pipes did not suit. I ended up screwing the trans cooler pipes straight in to the radiator which made getting an extra inch out of the fixed lines a little tricky. With a bit of rearranging I managed to get it to sit right. The shroud alignment was a bit off so I went to bunnings and bought a length of L shaped alloy. Riveted to the excess alloy on the radiator and made holes to suit to fit the shroud. I also bought some weather strip with tape and made a seal around for the shroud. It draws a huge amount of air now and it makes the aircon fans spin from the suction at idle.

I think you have just answered my questions regarding the ebay aluminium radiators. I sent them a question but they never replied so I didn't go ahead with buying one; but from what you say it sounds like they are worth it.

Picked up an Aluminium Radiator from E-bay today. $260 delivered. Put in my order at 8 am and had it on my doorstep by lunch time. Cools twice as well as the original and fitted perfectly to my 3.9 litre 1998 disco 1

It is also about 1/2 the weight of the original .

Very very happy with my purchase from coolingboss
