The dash will be covered in dust soon enough. And seat covers will solve part of the color problems. Maybe a dash of interior paint to a nice black to make it more palatable. I'm already putting together an attack plan for once it's rwc is done so I can start with the mods if I don't forget I will even take a heap of pics as the project progresses

Ok just drove the 2door home already. Have a list in my head of things I'm going to do first off. But a big plus is I do like the simplicity of the 93's interior there is so much room to attach things. Down side is the seats are crap and I will be using my leather seats out of the dozer once it's got it's rwc. The difference in power is crazy but I will get used to it. An added bonus was new injectors (I have to fit) and full workshop manuals that came with it and it's fitted with rear poly bags, and a full set of cheap all terrain tyres. It cruises down the highway with ease but the lack of ride quality is obvious from the get go with the standard suspension and skinny factory tyres. Or maybe I'm being fussy. I'll take some pics later today and post them here

This is the best I can do for now (night shift last night and still hanging in there When I get the energy I'll take it out and take some pics of the engine etc. I got lucky the timing belt was only just done and while he was at it he had the sump gasket redone too. It has a duel battery setup and as the pics show a snorkel so I have some of the work done for me. I have never seen a Landover engine so clean for now there is actually no oil leaks. Better book it in for a rwc ASAP. I know the shocks need new bushes but the brakes stop you on a dime and are all new. I'm not going to do anything to it before I take it in I want a good honest check over so I can fix it properly. 11 months reg means I have time to do a good job and not cut corners. Cutting corners is after the rwc.. Need to find a pair of rear 75mm flat dog flares for a 2 door before i think if putting the 35's on it. Will have a very good 3.9ltr auto and transfer for sale out of the dozen soon if anyone needs a replacement just pm me.

Is it easy to remove the alpine windows and side glass and rear door glass as the dozer has new tinting and I want to transfer it to my new toy along with the front windows if they fit the 2door??? That way I only have to get the little pop out windows tinted to make it match and I get to keep all my cool stickers

    Gday Mate,

That's a bargain you've picked up there and with a bit of pre love from the old owner is a bonus the Beginning of an excellent project.
I recently removed my Alpine windows to repair some rust and it wasn't to hard to remove. It was described in the RAVE manual, you push the window from the inside-out having some one to catch it is good. Than before re installing, remove the strip of rubber out of the window seal, I found fitting the seal to the body and than fitting the window into the seal, use some silicone spray as lube when installing the rubber strip back into the seal. Its a bit fiddly.

look forward to watching this build.

    Gav

    ahhhhhh,
is it just me that would argue discos bust up body and body mounts (chassis) even without a body lift IF they are pounded on bad roads.

I retired my old disco hurt from having welded the body at every load point and the rear chassis points numerous times. EVERY series 1 disco I have seen that flogs around up this way has needed the body mounts and or chassis mounts welded. Its not a very particular or difficult job and you will be doing it again soon. So, just weld up your current runner, strenghten where it broke and call it good.

Series1 Disco bodies are cheese - get over it or buy a defender and move on

At least you have picked up one of the early series ones... they are generally better built, with better strength in body to chassis. Not in the league of early rangies of the same era but certainly better than say a 95 disco. You will still be welding the 93 up if you use it for touring AND when it does a head youll be doing an engine transplant!!! Do a search on replacement 200tdi heads sometime!

    Hi Nicho,
As far as I know ( comparing my '96 300 Tdi 3 door with my neighbours '95 5 door) the front doors are the same only the interior door linnings are different. The only things you will have no use for are the rear doors. Welcome to the 3 door brigade. Also a bit late finding this thread as I have found the only down fall is it's a squeeze getting passengers into rear seats (have removed mine, no more worries).
    Regards Shane.

I did get under it for a little bit yesterday and noticed that some of the rear body mounts do look a bit different to my 98's. As for head or engine replacement, if it happens it happens an engine I can rebuild blind folded so that's no drama. With poly airbags helping the load it should be gentler on the mounts I hope. Rear seats will only last out the rwc then storage for them, my dogs will enjoy the space without them. I measured up the glass and the rear side glass won't fit and the front door glass looks like a close fit but maybe out by 10mm I'll still check with them removed. I'm going to fit the new injectors and glow plugs I was given with it ASAP as its a bit diesel smokey and I'll give the ole girl a full service while I'm at it and a general check over before I book it in for the roady. All in all I think it's a good buy and will work well with what I have planned for it. I can't wait to have economy and not carry 4 jerry cans on every trip.
