Only as far as age goes. When we pulled the head from this 1998 today, it was already creeping under 2 other fire rings but had blown through to a coolant gallery at number 3, so IF it had been replaced at 230K, it may not have looked so close to failure.

A lesson there IMO and makes me even more determined to advise replacement at 200 to 250K intervals.
