Being a bit /very anal, I found a threaded hole in my Thor manifold and then found a bolt to suit and drilled a hole in the bolt, pushed in the sender and took up the slack with conductive silver paste, then sealed it with araldite. The sender of the "inexpensive temperature gauge " is 4.7MM in diameter and a 5MM drill worked well.
If you can find a bolt which is not holding much, eg NOT a head bolt, this is a good method as mine certainly changes quickly.
