    Oil filter won't stop leaking

Hello everyone. On my v8 there is oil leaking from the oil filter. I have tried to tighten it but it was already as tight as it would go. The oil filter isnt that old. Any suggestions ???

If your D1 is a 3.9 ther eis a "sandwich" adaptor for the oil cooler behind the oil filter.
    there can be 2 problems.
1 The hollow bolt that holds the adaptor can become loose as you undo the filter. Get a suitable socket and check that the adaptor is tight. The thing i am talking about is what you screw the filter on to.
2 The gasket between the sandwich and the oil pump has started to leak. in this case grab a gasket off an old oil filter and replace the one on top of the sandwich.

    Double Seal ??

Make sure you haven't got two o-ring seals on the filter. Maybe the old seal wasn't removed when the filter was last replaced and the 'double' seal is not sitting correctly.

Happened to me with a fuel filter recently.

A leaking oil pressure switch will dribble oil down the filter, making it look like a filter leak. Get a torch and look at the switch while the engine is idling, betcha that's where the leak is.

Hi Bee Utey, I have a '71 RR and checked the oil pressure screw on top of the filter and it was loose - now clean and tight and no leak - thanks

My 98 3.9 doesn't have the sandwich adaptor ... but it does have a leaking oil pressure switch that makes it look as if the filter itself is dribbling.
