    Dash Lights Out

So a while ago my dash lights stopped working.
I tried replacing the fuse and it blew as soon as I turned them on.
I tried again after unplugging the tail lights, glove box light and dash lights but it blew again.
I tried with all the lights in but the RHS park light out but it blew.
Typically it makes a beep as it blows on a 10amp fuse, I tried with a 20amp fuse because I ran out of 10's and it beeped 3 times. The beep is similar to when I start up (the coolant alarm?).
So I tried by breaking the coolant alarm circuit but that didn't change anything either.
It only beeps if I try it without the car running, there is no beep if the car is running.

I'm done for ideas i think. I really don't want to take it to an auto electrician because I'm broke and last time I did they weren't very helpful.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Goots.

Instead of a fuse, wire a 12V 100W lamp across the fuse holder. The globe will glow brightly at a max 8 amps until the short is fixed. Wriggle everything with the globe in place of the fuse until you find the problem. Auto selector lamp perhaps?

    Ok,
Cool I totally forgot about the auto selector lights they haven't worked for ages.
So theres a few globes that are blown, the two auto ones and left one of the number plate lights. I'll replace those and then try the light trick.

Would a spare headlight globe work for the trick?

    Cheers,

    Goots.
